Resource / Speed
Faster, or enough?
The interface is invisible in the photo and decisive in the hand. Here's when USB 3.0 is worth paying for — and when it isn't.
USB 2.0 tops out around 480 Mbps (roughly 35–40 MB/s in practice). USB 3.0 starts at 5 Gbps and typically delivers 100–150 MB/s on a good drive. That is a 3–5× difference in the hand, not just on a spec sheet.
For a PDF catalogue, a deck of slides or a few hundred photos, USB 2.0 is fine. For video, software builds, large raw photo sets or anything over 16 GB, USB 3.0 turns a coffee break into a few seconds.
What changes in the product
- The controller and the memory grade; 3.0 usually costs more.
- The connector is physically the same — the blue tongue is the visual cue.
- Not every model is available in 3.0; we confirm on the quote.
| Use case | Recommended |

| PDF / slides / 100–500 photos | USB 2.0 |

| Executive gift / client delivery | USB 3.0 |
Real-world speed also depends on the memory grade and the host device. We test every batch before packing.
